E-Rigs
In Early 2008, after 2 years of design and manufacturing, YBI Rig E1 officially starting drilling the first deep injection well drilled with an all electric rig.
The E-Rigs were designed from the ground up, utilizing and implementing over 30 years of deep injection well drilling knowledge to create a rig specifically built to construct large diameter wells quickly, efficiently, safely, and in an enviromentally friendly way.
The E-Rigs were designed with state of the art "Auto-drilling" systems allowing YBI to better control the job and providing for extremely reliable, consistent penetration rates. The Auto-drill system is mated seamlessly with proprietary YBI trending software allowing for instant feedback on hundreds of variables and parameters, all at the click of the mouse.
Early planners of the E-Rig design considered safety to be one of the most important objectives to be met. It has been done and more. The new E-rig's work floor is only 4 feet above grade. This limits the potential for injuries due to falls off the deck. Another less obvious safety feature, due to all five of the E-Rigs being manufactured the same, is the ability to move personnel from one E-Rig to the next with no lapse in their ability to safely perform their job. Moving personnel around when another employee is out for any reason is a strategic capability that allows YBI to continue the job without losing time or sacraficing safety.
Finally, the most important design consideration of the E-Rig was the way in which it fit into the future environmental programs of our customer base. Prior to the E-Rig, it was not uncommon to find large quantities of fuel and oil present on the site. This presents the possible opportunity for serious environmental damage should there be an accidental spill. The E-Rig allows YBI to reduce the volume of fuels and oil onsite to the bare minimum thus greatly reducing the possiblitly of a serious spill. The E-Rigs have also proven to be exceptionally quiet.
